It seems that Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has quickly become one of the most criticized players in all of the NFL. The latest reason has been about him not looking shredded like the other players in a recent shirtless photo from a Caribbean vacation.

One of the players in the photo was New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley. He was asked about the criticism Mayfield has received as a result of the photo and expressed that ‘he's not supposed to be shredded' because he's a quarterback, Barkley told TMZ Sports:

“He’s a quarterback, he’s not supposed to be shredded,” Barkley told us at the Sports Illustrated party in Miami over the weekend.

“We in off-season, he’s gonna have time to get his body right. He can throw the ball 80 yards. That’s the only thing that matters.”

During the 2019 season, Mayfield saw his completion percentage decline from 63.8 percent as a rookie to 59.4 percent last season with the Browns. He also threw for just 22 touchdowns compared to 27 in 2018 while also throwing 21 interceptions. The results he achieved were genuinely disappointing when considering how he had greater receiving threats to work with and a talented overall offense.

There is a lot of time for the Browns star to improve both physically and from a skill-set standpoint. However, it's more important that he manages to increase his accuracy as a quarterback and continue to become more consistent. Last season was a period that featured clear regression and if progress isn't achieved in 2020, it's time to worry.
