The Cleveland Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski seem to be confident in Baker Mayfield as their franchise quarterback. Despite the belief they have in him, according to certain NFL executives, Mayfield could be a popular trade target for quarterback-needy teams this offseason.

In an article for The Athletic, Dan Pompei spoke to anonymous executives about quarterbacks who could be moved this offseason. Mayfield's name popped up in discussions as a quarterback who could be shipped elsewhere for the right price.

After being selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Browns in 2018, Mayfield is under contract through the 2021 season. At the same time, he has a fifth-year option in 2022 that Cleveland could decide to pick up this offseason.

Seeing that he's still playing on his rookie deal, his contract would be easy to trade. But the executives who believe a trade could transpire suspect that how Mayfield finishes this season will determine whether or not the Browns would entertain any offers.

While he is playing at a cheap price right now, executives also think a trade involving Mayfield could hinge on whether a team is willing to give him a long-term deal. There could be some questions about that.

Mayfield hasn't exactly been lighting it up in Stefanski's run-oriented offense this season, throwing for 1,514 yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Even though some may believe it's too early to give up on Mayfield, some NFL executives share the belief that his time in Cleveland could be winding down.
