Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Richard Sherman has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 calf strain that will force him out for a few weeks, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

The news comes after Sherman missed the Buccaneers' recent game against Washington last Sunday. It also rules him out of Bruce Arians' roster for his team's Week 11 matchup with the New York Giants.

Speaking on Monday about his veteran defensive back, Arians told reporters:

“I doubt seriously if he’ll be back anytime soon. He was fine Thursday and Friday. I thought he was going to have a heck of a ballgame. He just strained his calf before the ballgame, so don’t know how long it’ll be.”

Having lost their last two games against the New Orleans Saints and Washington Football Team, the Buccaneers will be looking to return to winning ways without the experienced Sherman. Since joining the Buccaneers last September, Sherman has only made three appearance after a hamstring injury earlier in the season.

It is unclear whether Sherman's return in “a few weeks” will come sooner rather than later. Tampa Bay will be hoping to at least have Sherman back for the crucial stretch of the regular season and the playoffs.

In the meantime, other players have the chance to step in while Sherman remains sidelined. Dee Delaney came in for Sherman in the Washington Game, but exited with a concussion which leaves his status unclear for the Buccaneers' next game.

Regardless of who comes in for Richard Sherman, Bruce Arians will be hoping his team can end their two-game losing streak with a win against the New York Giants on Monday night.
