The Ohio State Buckeyes scored a big win on the recruitment front, as the program successfully secured the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore. Apart from adding another potential cornerstone of the Buckeyes' stop unit, Ohio State can also feel great about the fact that they one-upped Big Ten rivals Michigan Wolverines.

The No. 5 defensive lineman in industry-generated 247Sports Composite and prospect from Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha will continue his college career as a Buckeye. He announced his commitment to Ohio State on Sunday.

Moore sounded ecstatic about what lays ahead of him in Columbus.

“I would say just being out there, and the atmosphere,” Moore said of what led to his decision. “Just getting the feeling they would develop me and they would be pushing me to be the best version of myself on and off the field.”

The Buckeyes are expecting a lot from Moore, especially since they are looking forward to showcasing a much tighter defense in 2022. Last season, the Buckeyes ranked 31st in the nation with 22.8 points allowed per game, 24th against the run with 127.8 rushing yards surrendered per contest, and just 87th with 246.2 passing yards given up per outing.

Ohio State finished the 2021 college football season with a win at the Rose Bowl, which felt like a consolation to many Buckeyes supporters, as they were hoping to crack the College Football Playoff until the Wolverines ripped them in the final game of the regular season.
