Brook Lopez to miss second straight game for Bucks vs. Knicks

Bucks, Brook Lopez

A sore back will keep Brook Lopez out of the Milwaukee Bucks’ matchup against the New York Knicks on Monday. It’s the second straight game that Lopez will miss because of his back injury.

Saturday night without Lopez, the Bucks defeated the Hornets 137-96. Milwaukee leads the East with a 17-3 record, while the Knicks are at the bottom with a 4-16 record.

Lopez is averaging 10.7 points per game in his second season with the Bucks. He’s struggling from deep, shooting 28.9 percent from 3-point territory so far.

Robin Lopez, Brook’s twin, is in line to get the bulk of the minutes at center with his brother out. Robin is averaging 5.0 points per game in limited minutes thus far this 2019-20 campaign.

Robin doesn’t provide the same deep-range shooting as his brother, but his defensive contributions should prove useful against a struggling Knicks’ offense.

New York’s offensive rating is 103.3, the third lowest in the league, while the Bucks’ defense is the third best in the league. They allow just 102.7 points per 100 possessions.

After hosting the Knicks, the Bucks will go on to play the Detroit Pistons then come back home for one of the biggest matchups of the year against the Los Angles Clippers.

Brook Lopez is considered day-to-day, but the Bucks may elect to rest him for Friday’s game to make sure he’s healthy when Kawhi Leonard and Paul George visit.
