Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo entered the NBA as a frail, wide-eyed rookie from Greece, who was almost entirely clueless about the NBA. His teammates couldn't even pronounce his name.

Well now, he's clearly a household name, as he gradually carved his legacy as one of the best players in NBA history. Giannis' rags-to-riches story never gets old and what makes him more admirable is he never forgets all the people who helped him along the way.

In a fantastic story by The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears, Giannis revealed getting valuable pieces of advice from NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo during the rookie symposium for the 2013 NBA Draft, where the Bucks selected him as the 15th overall pick.

“I knew who he was. He came and approached me. Huge guy. He said, ‘You got to make sure you take care of your body. You have to make sure you are coachable. You have to make sure you ice. You have to make sure you sleep.’ He was giving me advice on how I was going to prolong my career in the league.”

Giannis added that he's carried all the things Mutombo, an eight-time All-Star and four-time Defensive Player of the Year, told him until to this day. Safe to say, things worked out well for the Bucks star.

“He said, ‘A lot of people come into the league with great talent but they don’t last long. They’re not healthy. The average of being in the NBA is four years. How do you beat that?’ That’s the first step. He said never leave the arena or practice facility without icing your knees and ankles and take care of your body. Since then, I’ve done it every single day.”

Now, if we could only get Giannis to do the Mutombo finger wag every time he blocks a shot.
