After playing in only three games with the team, the Milwaukee Bucks have waived forward Terrence Jones and plan to sign free agent guard Gary Payton II, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Given Malcolm Brogdon‘s recent injury, the team has looked into adding guard depth, choosing to use the newly available roster spot on Payton II, who spent the season playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA D-League.

Through 49 games with the Vipers, Payton II averaged 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting a remarkably efficient 49.8 percent.

His father, Gary Payton Sr., had a short stint with the Bucks, playing the second half of the 2002-03 season with the team, coming in from the trade that brought Ray Allen to the now-defunct Seattle Supersonics.

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Payton II could get some minutes at the point guard position behind Matthew Dellavedova as the Bucks look to build on their half game lead for their recently-earned fifth place in the East.
