Chicago Bulls rookie point guard Coby White says Derrick Rose was “one of my favorite players to watch” growing up.

Like Rose, White is an explosive guard who has an endorsement deal with Adidas. The youngster talked about Rose, who is now on the Detroit Pistons, with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy.

“Yeah, I definitely watched him. He’s one of my favorite players to watch,” White said. “His first year, especially his MVP season, was crazy. So my homeboys, that was their favorite player, so everybody wanted to be like D-Rose, you know.

“I used to watch him play on Saturday nights when they used to play and ain’t no telling what would’ve happened if he stayed healthy. I feel like he would’ve been, you know, one of the best to ever play the game.”

In 18 games this season for the Bulls, White is averaging 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He's shooting 37.7 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

For the Pistons, Rose is putting up 16.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists. The former MVP is shooting 50.0 percent overall, 34.8 percent from the 3-point line and 90.0 percent from the charity stripe.

White and the Bulls are 2-0 against Rose and the Pistons this season. Both games were at the United Center, where Rose received standing ovations and MVP chants from the Bulls crowd.
