It has been a whirlwind past couple of weeks for the Chicago Bulls. After going on a six-game winning streak, they are now in the middle of a three-game losing skid after bowing to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night, 130-124.

It was a classic see-saw battle in the first three periods, but the Bulls allowed the Hawks to score 40 points in the final frame. The Bulls dropped to 39-24, and coach Billy Donovan urged his wards to be more accountable and learn to correct common mistakes, per the report of ESPN.

“We've got to have way, way better habits against elite teams. I think we're learning the tough way all these little lessons, so to speak. There were just a lot, a lot of breakdowns. We fouled entirely too much.”

Bull star DeMar DeRozan committed a costly error in the final minute of the game, allowing the Hawks to seal the win. DeRozan and running mate Zach LaVine each scored 22 points while center Nikola Vucevic finished with a double-double of 21 and 11 rebounds.

But as Donovan lamented, they didn't get the job done on the defensive end, as the Hawks shot 52.4% from the field and only had five turnovers.

The Bulls committed 19 fouls, which led to 24-of-28 free throws for the Hawks. DeRozan and company, meanwhile, only shot six-of-seven from the charity stripe. Donovan, however, didn't offer excuses.

“Generally, when you see a discrepancy like that, coaches complain. We fouled. We fouled.”

The Bulls can end their dry spell on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
