The Chicago Bulls had their offense clicking on Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Unfortunately, the same could not be said about their defense as they lost in a shootout, 131-122.

Both Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan scored 30 or more, but it wasn't enough to outscore a balanced attack from the Spurs offense, which featured seven different players in double-figures.

The Bulls stars sounded off on the one-way play after the game.

Via Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports:

“We scored 122 points, that's more than enough points to win,” DeRozan added. “And we can’t give up 131 points. That’s unacceptable.”

“Terrible,” Zach LaVine said of the Bulls’ defense. “It didn’t matter what (coverage or scheme) we were in, we couldn’t stop the ball.”

The head of the Spurs' snake was undoubtedly Dejounte Murray, who led the way with a near triple-double: 29 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.

With the Bulls' two best perimeter defenders in Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso out, matching up against dynamic guards on the defensive end gets tricky. Chicago leaned heavily on Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White, who were both productive in their time on the court but are both smaller and inexperienced compared to their veteran counterparts out of the lineup.

Nonetheless, Chicago can still put up a better effort defensively than giving up 131 points, no matter who's out on the floor.
