Having already missed Kris Dunn's services in their previous game on Saturday, the Chicago Bulls may continue to be shorthanded for two more outings as Dunn remains under the NBA’s concussion protocol. According to Bulls insider Carlos Douglas Jr., Dunn could miss Chicago's games versus the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76er due to persistent concussion symptoms.

The 23-year-old Providence product fell hard to the floor during the team’s game last Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors. After throwing down a powerful slam, Dunn lost grip of the rim and fell mouth-first to the floor causing his teeth to be badly damaged as well. They have reportedly been splinted with braces in order to repair them.

Dunn’s potential absence will be a huge blow to the Bulls, who have been busy making noise in the Eastern Conference. Chicago has won four of its last five games, a stretch that includes their 113-97 win over the Atlanta Hawks on the road last Saturday.

Dunn has also been playing well of late and is averaging 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.1 steals through 40 games so far this season. More importantly, he has given the Chicago faithful reason to be optimistic about their team’s future, and that he is going to be a cornerstone for them in the coming years.

Zach LaVine and Jerian Grant should continue to receive more playing time from head coach Fred Hoiberg while Kris Dunn is out. They have done a good job at running the point so far, but should slide back to their normal roles once Dunn returns to action.
