The Detroit Pistons earned a 131-108 win against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, but All-Star forward Blake Griffin sees a lot of promise in their opponents' young core, particularly the sweet shooting Lauri Markkanen.

In an interview with The Athletic's Darnell Mayberry, Griffin said Markkanen is going to a special player once he fully understands how the NBA game is being played.

“He’s unbelievably skilled. You can see that right away. That combined with his size makes him special. Once he really gets the physicality and the angles of the game down, he’s going to be trouble for a long time.”

Griffin had the chance to guard Markkanen on multiple occasions, and veteran forward can't help but marvel in what his younger adversary was able to do, especially on the offensive end.

Markkanen finished with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block against Griffin and the Pistons.

Although there's very little talk going on about him, Markkanen continues to progress as a player, which is why he's most likely going to be one of the Bulls' cornerstones, together with high-flying Zach laVine.

Lauri's career still has a long ways to go, but for him to get the recognition of one of the best forwards in the East at this stage of his career is something that he can and should be proud of.
