Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine has been invited to participate in this year’s slam dunk contest, but hasn't made a decision yet, according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN.

The 2020 All-Star Game is in Chicago this year:

Basketball fans around the world are hoping LaVine does the Slam Dunk Contest since he’s one of the best dunkers in the NBA. LaVine, who is a two-time champion of the event, has completely recovered from the ACL tear he suffered during the 2016-17 season when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 24-year-old can fly with ease and should probably compete and put on a show for Bulls and NBA fans as a whole.

More than three decades have passed since Bulls legend Michael Jordan defeated Dominique Wilkins in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest in The Windy City. It would be cool to see LaVine put on a show at the United Center in February.

In 36 games this season for the Bulls, LaVine is averaging 23.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists. The high-flyer is shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 39.8 percent from beyond the arc and 81.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls entered Monday with a record of 13-23. They are in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

A lot of fans want to see Zach LaVine and Orlando Magic big man Aaron Gordon go at it again in the Slam Dunk Contest. Only time will tell if it actually happens.
