Zach LaVine praises Michael Jordan’s Bulls team as one of the ‘best franchise in history’
LaVine will be entering his second full season (2.5 overall) with the Bulls this year. In an appearance on Scoop B Radio, the 24-year-old shared his thoughts on the franchise, especially the historic Bulls team of the 90s led by Jordan — tagged as the greatest basketball player of all time. For LaVine, Jordan and crew set the bar high for the present and future Bulls players.
“Especially seeing all of the banners and the retired jerseys. This is one of the best franchises in history especially with the legacy they have set,” LaVine shared. “You always want to hold yourself to a high standard and try to get to where they were.”
LaVine doesn’t just salivate in awe of the legacy left by those who came before him. He admitted that he has watched and studied Bulls games during Jordan’s time, particularly on how they got past the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons. The two-time dunk champion also noted the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat as obstacles that Chicago had to go through.
Now, LaVine is seen as the future star of the Bulls. Injuries have hampered his career in his first season with the team, but he put up his best campaign yet in 2018-19 with 23.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game — all of which are career-highs. LaVine proved that not only does he know about his team’s rich history, but he also aims to lead them to greater heights.
