The Arizona Cardinals, as they've been doing all offseason, are taking advantage of that No. 1 waiver priority. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafalo, former Chicago Bears defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard is heading down to the desert.

Chicago selected Bullard in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Florida and was waived on Saturday.

Bullard's time in Chicago was a mixed back in large part because he's a bit of a tweener at 6-foot-3, 297-pounds. His snap count was limited in a deep defensive line in Chi-town; in 2018, he saw 298 snaps in 16 games, a loss of nearly 140 from the year before. In 2019, he likely wouldn't have seen much time in a contract year.

In three years of play, Bullard has tallied 62 combined tackles, two sacks, nine tackles for loss, and five quarterbacks hits. He's played in 46 of 48 eligible games.

Bullard likely won't be a starter in the Cardinals defensive line. But, he's much-needed depth after Darius Philon's release for off-the-field matters and Robert Nkemdiche's release for a handful of reasons. He joins rookie Zach Allen and veterans Corey Peters and Rodney Gunter in Vance Joseph's 3-4 defense.

In a busy day, the Cardinals also added situational pass-rusher Cassius Marsh to the mix on Sunday. Throughout the offseason, notable additions include LB Jordan Hicks, OLB Terrell Suggs, CB Robert Alford, and a litter of highly touted rookies.

Bullard will help turn the ship in Arizona, as they are coming off of a 3-13 season and, coincidentally, are one of the most changed teams of the offseason.
