Kliff Kingsbury has been the subject of attention in college football as of late. The Arizona Cardinals head coach has been linked to the Oklahoma Sooners job, despite being wildly successful this season. It's a confusing scenario that has been a distraction to the team's amazing season.

You best believe, though, that the Cardinals will do whatever it takes to keep Kliff Kingsbury out of Oklahoma and in Arizona. The general manager of the franchise, Steve Keim, made that abundantly clear when he appeared in Arizona Sports' Burns and Gambo.

“… Sometimes the rumors are correct, sometimes they’re not,” Keim said Friday. “Obviously, we don’t want to lose Kliff, he’s done a phenomenal job. (Owner) Michael (Bidwill) and I are his biggest fans, so again, I think he’s got a great job here as Kyler Murray mentioned. I think the future is bright.”

Rumors of Kliff Kingsbury being pursued by Oklahoma abounded earlier this week. It's not every day that you see a coach in the middle of a winning season be linked to a different. What's even more peculiar is Kingsbury's response, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence that he'll stay with the Cardinals after this season.

“I don't get into those things. My sole focus the last couple of weeks has been the Bears… We're in-season, we're 9-and-2, just not a topic I want to touch right now.”

Contrast that with Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's harsh response to college coaching rumors.

Perhaps Kingsbury is simply using the Oklahoma rumor as leverage for a contract extension with the Cardinals. Either way, it's not a good luck for a coach to not publicly deny these sorts of rumors. It's an unfortunate distraction in what has otherwise been a stellar season for the Cardinals.
