The Arizona Cardinals have already nailed down their head coach, hiring Kliff Kingsbury earlier this week. Now, they are trying to find their next offensive coordinator.

According to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports, the Cardinals are interested in Texas State head coach Jake Spavital to fill that position.

Kingsbury is familiar with Spavital, as Spavital was a graduate assistant at the University of Houston in the middle of Kingsbury's four-year term with the school in which he served in various roles, including co-offensive coordinator.

Spavital was just named the new head coach of Texas State at the end of November, representing the first head-coaching job of his career.

Before accepting the position with Texas State, Spavital had served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for West Virginia for two seasons.

The 33-year-old earned his first coaching job back in 2008, when he was named the offensive quality control coach of Tulsa. He also served as a graduate assistant for Oklahoma State before heading to West Virginia for his first stint with the school, holding a post as quarterbacks coach for two years before joining Texas A&M as a co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2013. He was then elevated to the sole offensive coordinator of the Aggies in 2014, holding that post through 2015.

Spavital then spent one year as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of California before returning to West Virginia in 2017.

The Cardinals are coming off of a season in which they went just 3-13, resulting in the firing of first-year head coach Steve Wilks.
