The Arizona Cardinals are signing veteran cornerback David Amerson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Amerson hasn’t played at all this season. He signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs this offseason less than two weeks after his release from the Oakland Raiders. However, he did not make the final roster and was waived at the start of September. He recently worked out with the Miami Dolphins this month.

Amerson was originally a second-round pick of the Washington Redskins in the 2013 NFL Draft. After being a consistent starter in his second season in 2014, Amerson fell down the depth chart the next season and was released by Washington in the middle of the season.

The Raiders claimed Amerson off waivers and he impressed with four interceptions in 12 games in Oakland. The Raiders rewarded Amerson with a four-year deal worth $35 million, but after a foot injury ended his 2017 season after seven games, he was waived the next offseason by the Raiders in February.

Amerson will now join a Cardinals cornerback depth chart that currently features All-Pro Patrick Peterson, Bene Benwikere, Jamar Taylor, and Brandon Williams. Amerson could make his debut this Sunday, which will see the Cardinals go up against his old team, the Oakland Raiders.
