The Arizona Cardinals are off to a disappointing start to the 2018 season having dropped six out of their first games played that has been capped by a 45-10 drumming on Thursday night at the hands of the Denver Broncos.

Despite the Cardinals' massive struggles on the field, Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson hasn't had any dropoff in his play on the field for that matter as he ranks among the top cornerbacks in the league at his position statistically, according to Mike Jurecki of Azcardinals.com.

Throughout his career, Peterson has proven to be one of the elite cornerbacks in the league behind his stellar individual play that helped him earn seven Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro nods. He has clearly been one of the team's bright spots on the field this season that has provided the secondary a strong source of stability. Arizona currently ranks 23rd against the pass while being 20th with 7.6 yards per pass attempt allowed, and 27th with an opposing 69.1 percent completion rate

There are several issues that the Cardinals have been experiencing defensively, but Peterson hasn't been one of them this year as he has continued to play like one of the top players at his position. It is something that should put in the running to add another Pro Bowl nod an All-Pro selection. However, the struggles that Arizona has had on the field have overshadowed how well Peterson has played throughout the entire season up to this point.

What this does is add to the underappreciated play of Peterson that often times has gone unnoticed nationally because of the team that he plays on that has largely struggled to string together consistent success on the field. Ultimately, this is exemplary of the game-changing that he has that has earned tremendous respect from his peers over the years.
