St. Louis Cardinals rookie Juan Yepez authored an incredible moment on Mother's Day, belting the first home run of his MLB career in a loss to the San Francisco Giants. That wasn't the only special moment involving Yepez, though. The 24-year-old, whose idol is Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera, was ecstatic to learn that Cabrera had slid into his DMs on Instagram following his first big league dinger, as reported by John Denton of MLB.com.

“He actually congratulated me on my first home run when he texted me on Instagram, so that was like a dream come true,” said Yepez, who hit the second home run of his career Wednesday when the Cardinals routed the Orioles 10-1.

“I was like, ‘Dang, my favorite player of all time is actually following me and texting me!’ For sure, that blows my mind.”

The Tigers star messaged Yepez on Instagram, sending him congratulations on his home run. The Cardinals rookie make his lifelong dream come true by hitting a major league homer- and he earned the praise of his “favorite player of all time” in Miguel Cabrera.

That's a pretty awesome way to start a career. Yepez is certainly attempting to follow in the footsteps of Cabrera, as the Cardinals' former no. 6 prospect has raced out of the gate with three doubles and two home runs in his first seven MLB games.

The Cardinals rookie might be getting more Instagram messages from other MLB stars like Cabrera if he keeps up that performance at the dish.
