The Arizona Cardinals want Larry Fitzgerald back but expect it to be at least a few more weeks before Fitzgerald decides if he will return for his 16th season. Fitzgerald, appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Sunday said that there is a checklist he goes through every offseason and some offseasons the answers are easier to figure out.

“There’s a checklist I always go through and sometimes I’m able to get to my conclusion faster than others,” Fitzgerald said via AZCentral.com. “I have to do my due diligence in terms of just taking some time to let your body heal because when you’re sore and your fingers are broken, it’s easy to say, ‘Man, I just don’t want to do this anymore. My body’s hurting.’

“You have to give yourself some time to decompress and take a step back.”

Fitzgerald is a free agent but he has made it clear time and time again that if he comes back he would like to play with the Cardinals. Even with the Cardinals struggles this past few seasons, Fitzgerald is excited with the direction the team is heading.

“I really enjoy playing in Arizona,” he said. “Aside from the record, the way management is, (General Manager) Steve Keim and (team President) Michael Bidwill, and just the state of Arizona, they’ve always been good to me. I’m a loyal cat. My feelings on that haven’t really changed.”

This will be a storyline to follow in the next couple weeks when a decision is made by Fitzgerald. If Fitzgerald does decide to hang up the cleats there is no doubt that he is a Hall of Famer and the next stop will be Canton, Ohio.
