To no surprise, the NBA Finals will feature a fourth consecutive matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. While both teams getting to the championship was predictable, picking the best player in this series remains to be seen.
Although the NBA season awards are not given until June, fans will at least be able to see who is the MVP between two of the best teams in the league. According to Covers, point guard Steph Curry is currently pegged as the favorite to take it home:
It should hardly come as any surprise to see Curry at the top of the list. Not only are the Warriors heavily favored to win but it seems the Warriors star may still have something to prove.
Curry has established himself as the greatest shooter of all time. He also solidified his status as one of its best players after taking home back-to-back MVP awards a few years ago. However, he has never been awarded the Finals MVP.
Small forward Andre Iguodala was given the award the first time around for his stellar lay on both ends of the floor. Then small forward Kevin Durant won it last year for his heroics in the series. That said, Curry could be making it a point to prove that this is still his team despite having the most formidable supporting cast in the NBA.
Meanwhile, there is no question that James will take home MVP if Cleveland manages to pull this one out. Although it may seem like a bit of a stretch at this point, it is not the first time he has managed to finish the job against Golden State.
