The NBA's most active point of the free agent period seems to be wrapping up with most of the most prominent names already committed to a team. The Boston Celtics signed Gordon Hayward, who was one of the biggest free agents this offseason, but GM Danny Ainge relayed the message that they aren't done.

That doesn't mean he will be making more moves immediately, but he does have his eyes set on other players.

Big man Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans is one player he feels could help the team immediately, but there is no chance the Pelicans give him up in a trade, no matter how many future picks are involved.

Eventually, Davis will become a free agent, and Ainge is preparing his strike for when Davis is actually available or is looking to move on from the Big Easy.

According to Chris Mannix of The Vertical, the Celtics will keep an eye on the Pelicans season and will make a strong run for Davis if the season plays out poorly.

The four-time All-Star would give the Celtics a huge, much-needed boost on the inside and provide enough star power to contend in the Eastern Conference for a long time. Davis who also boasts of being a gold medal Olympian has never given an indication that he is unhappy with his current situation but after five NBA seasons with no real improvement in sight, he may begin to wonder if success can be found outside of his current circle. Davis averaged 28 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals last season.
