Derrick White has been the X-factor that the Boston Celtics have sorely needed in their run to the NBA Finals. He may have his down games, but he's come up large during massive spots for the guys in green.

D-White showcased that again in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors, hitting three after back-breaking three for 21 points in what was a stunning road upset for Boston.

While he's clearly endeared himself to his teammates now, Derrick White reportedly felt “out of place” with his Celtics teammates when he first arrived via trade from the San Antonio Spurs.

His Game 1 co-star Al Horford was informed of that during their press conference and was surprised to hear it, especially as one of the leaders on the Celtics roster.

“I wasn’t aware of that,” admitted the Celtics veteran. “We love Derrick, what he’s brought to our group, his energy, his commitment to working hard. He continues to work no matter how it’s going for him individually, he continues to prepare and we have a lot of confidence in him. So, thank you for telling me that. I’ll make sure I address it. And it’s something that he just needs to go out there and play. We have the most confidence in him and he was huge for us tonight, just his confidence, his energy was really good for us.”

Derrick White has found his footing at the perfect time for Boston. If he can help them get three more wins and raise their 18th banner, his place among the Celtics faithful will be secured as well.
