The Boston Celtics expanded their training camp roster by signing forward Yante Maten to an Exhibit 10 deal on Tuesday, per the Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.

NBA teams have the ability to invite up to 20 players to training camp despite the regular season roster restriction to 15 players plus a pair of two-way contracts. At the moment, the Celtics have 2019 draft's second-round pick in point guard Tremont Waters inked to a two-way deal.

The 23-year-old Maten spent the 2018-19 season with the Miami Heat's G League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce. The 6-foot-8 power forward went undrafted in the 2018 draft after four collegiate seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs. Maten played in the 2018 Summer League with the Heat before signing a two-way deal with the organization, leading to 30 G League games played with Sioux Falls over the past year.

Maten averaged 23.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game with Skyforce, shooting 54.3 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 77.7 percent from the free throw line.

Maten will likely compete for a spot with the Maine Red Claws, with little chance to make the big-league roster due to competition with UCF rookie center Tacko Fall and Boston's other two-way contracted player, 6-foot-6 guard Max Strus.
