Boston Celtics small forward Jaylen Brown is following the footsteps of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James in terms of being more than just a basketball player.

Brown, like James has done time and time again, wants to be more than just a basketball player who plays for the Celtics. The swingman is committed to social activism:

Despite being only 23-years-old, Brown is very mature for his age and wants to make his community better in any way possible. It's why the Celtics are proud to have Brown as one of their franchise cornerstones.

The Celtics are 23-8 on the season and appear on their way to redeeming themselves after last season’s dysfunctional campaign. Brown is averaging 20.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc and 75.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Brown averaged 27.0 points and 6.7 rebounds as the Celtics went 2-1 last week. He was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Many believe one of the reasons Brown is flourishing this season is because he got his contract taken care of. Brown signed a lucrative extension with the Celtics before the season started, so he’s playing free now and turning into an elite two-way player right before our eyes.

Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Jayson Tatum and Brown for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few seasons. Brown and Tatum are becoming a lethal dynamic duo for the Celtics, as both players have been playing like All-Stars so far this season.
