According to Chris Forsberg of ESPN, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics plans to return playing on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The rookie missed some time because of knee soreness that has become persistent after their London game with the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Brad Stevens said the following about the issue:

“I didn't see it. But they said he got his knee hit and it stiffened up, swelled up a little bit the next morning. But he's going to have further testing done.

“They don't think that it's a big, big thing, but certainly we want to be cautious and want to know exactly what happened.”

An injury to the promising rookie is one of the last things Celtics fans want to hear, regardless of the severity of it.

The Celtics organization and its fans want Tatum to develop without any hurdles. They are taking their time to evaluate the situation and proceed with caution.

But if this news about Tatum's return is any indication, it's that they have done what needs to be done.

Tatum is averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in his rookie season. He has proven to be one of the top rookies of the last draft class and one of the healthiest and most consistent players on the Celtics roster.

It's good to know that he's about to come back. There is nothing more entertaining than seeing a budding star like Tatum. This injury has only been a minor setback for his development.
