Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum says Boston Celtics All-Star small forward Jayson Tatum reminds him of Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.

McCollum, who is a really good scorer himself, says Tatum is like George in the sense that he can do almost anything on the offensive side of the floor:

Tatum has appeared in 55 games for the Celtics this season. He’s averaging 23.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 39.6 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Since the All-Star break, Tatum has been on a tear. He has upped his scoring output to 34.0 points per contest, all while registering 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 blocks per game and shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.

The game has clearly slowed down for Tatum, who is scoring very efficiently this season. The Celtics are also pleased to see that Tatum and Kemba Walker have meshed so easily. Walker said one of the reasons he signed with Boston was because he wanted to play with Tatum.

Certainly, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Tatum for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few season.

The Celtics have a good shot at winning the Eastern Conference this season. For that to happen, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward all have to play at a high level once the playoffs start.

The Celtics lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2019 playoffs. Boston will likely have to get through Milwaukee to win the East this time around. A seven-game series between the Celtics and Bucks would surely be a lot of fun to watch.
