Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has come clean about his fiercer competitiveness following a monster performance against the Milwaukee Bucks.

On Monday, the Celtics thumped the Bucks with Jayson Tatum leading the C's to a 117-103 victory. The All-Star forward dropped a game-high 42 points that went along with five rebounds and four assists.

Indeed, it was arguably Tatum's best game of the season. What's even more interesting, his overall  productivity wasn't that impressing leading to the Bucks game.

Reflecting on his stunning comeback after the win, Tatum confessed that a huge factor in his success was Celtics head coach Ime Udoka's advice about how to draw the line in respecting his peers in the league.

“You want to respect everybody in the game,” Tatum said via Sports Illustrated. “But, you know, go out there and put your imprint on it and be who you’re supposed to be, and that’s basically what he [Udoka] was advocating for me to do.”

Coach Udoka, on the other hand, stressed that he noticed Tatum has been “respecting guys too much at times.” This has prompted him to mentor his talisman on the said aspect a little bit.

“These guys aren’t your older brother. Don’t treat them like that,” Udoka said of his message to Tatum.

Jaylen Brown, meanwhile, acknowledged the Celtics' incredible showing against the Bucks. However, he also knows that the team needs to be consistent for the rest of the season.

“It’s a short-term memory,” Brown concluded. “It’s just one game. Obviously we’re coming back from a tough stretch. We’ve got to just take care of business and take it one game at a time and just get back to playing basketball the right way and keep moving in the right direction.”

The Celtics will be looking to score another bug win against another top-seeded team in the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
