Jrue Holiday is a lockdown point guard for the Boston Celtics who has seen an awful lot of basketball up close and personal with his two superstar teammates Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

Recently, Holiday had a bold take on Mavericks coach Jason Kidd's assertion that Brown is the best player on the Celtics.

The take came amid a surprising revelation by Al Horford, the veteran Celtics big man. Tatum and Brown themselves had fresh takes on what many thought was a Jason Kidd mind game.

Holiday's opinion on the matter was surprising in light of conventional wisdom surrounding the discussion of who is the best Celtics player.

Some fans worried that Kidd's comments could cause division or overthinking in the Celtics' locker room when he called Jaylen Brown the Celtics' best player.

Holiday decided to ‘just go with it' as he decided to lend credence to Kidd's opinion.

“I don't think he's lying, he (Brown) has been aggressive in every way,” Holiday said. “And he's guarding the best player (Luka Doncic).”

Doncic scored 30 in Game 1 while Brown had 22 points, helping to finish what Kristaps Porzingis started in a rout of the Dallas Mavericks.

Celtics at the ready for Game 2

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the TD Garden in Boston.

The Celtics held Doncic and the Mavericks to just over 25 percent shooting from three-point land on Thursday, a far cry from their season average. The Celtics got timely three pointers from Porzingis and others as they ran Kidd's team out of the gym en route to a 1-0 series lead.

The Celtics can take a commanding 2-0 lead before the series shifts back to Dallas next week, but it likely won't be as easy of a victory as it was on Thursday with Doncic and Kyrie Irving ready to give it their best effort on Sunday night.
