The Boston Celtics are being praised for their remarkable trade with the Indiana Pacers on Friday. In exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, the Celtics sent Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan, and a 2023 first-round pick to Indiana.

He discussed the trade and the opportunities that come along with joining the Celtics with The Athletic.

“I’m excited, man. We have a chance to win the championship, so I’m excited to join the family,” Brogdon said, all quotes courtesy of The Athletic. “I had heard that Boston was interested over the past few days, but as a player, you don’t know everything that’s going on. You just have to sit tight, let your agent work, let your team work, and then let the team that wants you, work as well. The Pacers were really good at facilitating a deal and sending me somewhere I could win. I am very much appreciative of how the Pacers have handled everything.”

The Celtics guard said that his focus has shifted since he joined the league with the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2016.

“I’m looking to win a championship, that’s actually it,” Brogdon said. “In the past, I’ve worried about stats and numbers and all that. I’m going to Boston and not worrying about that.”

Brogdon has a huge opportunity to be a part of a championship team in the 2022-2023 season. He joins Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and a plethora of other talented stars on the Celtics' roster.

They fell just short of the 2022 NBA Finals title this year. Maybe Brogdon is the final piece of the puzzle.

Brogdon brings a lot to the table. He averaged 19.1 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.1 rebounds for the Pacers last season. Despite his efforts, the team struggled tremendously, finishing the regular season 25-57 and 13th in the Eastern Conference.
