The Boston Celtics are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. They've won six out of their seven games after the All-Star break and will be looking to mark their fifth consecutive victory on Friday against the Detroit Pistons.

The Celtics have been on such a tear of late that even Paul Pierce himself could not help but make a bold prediction about his beloved team. According to the Celtics icon, this Jayson Tatum-led squad could go all the way this year (h/t Celtics on NBC Sports Boston on Twitter):

“Jayson Tatum is playing at an MVP level,” Pierce stated. “The Celtics are playing their best basketball right now. If they continue to play like this I can see them in the Eastern Conference Finals and possibly the Finals.”

That's some pretty lofty expectations from The Truth, but like he said, so long as the Celtics keep on playing the way they have been over the past couple of weeks, then this team can actually go on an extended run in the postseason.

Boston's hot streak has comes behind Tatum's exceptional level of play. Since the All-Star break, the 24-year-old has averaged 35.4 points on 49.7 percent shooting, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, while also connecting on 4.1 triples per game on a 40.8-percent clip. The sample size may be relatively small, but as Pierce stated, those are some MVP-level number right there.
