The Boston Celtics were given a major injury scare during their Game 2 loss against the Golden State Warriors when big man and defensive anchor Robert Williams went down after Marcus Smart crashed into him after getting blocked on a drive to the hoop. Considering Williams has been struggling with injuries throughout the playoffs, it was a big concern for Celtics fans. Ahead of Game 3, Celtics coach Ime Udoka revealed that Williams, who stayed on the ground for a minute after the injury scare, was okay after Game 2, via Tim Bontemps.

Udoka revealed that Williams staying down for a little while was largely precautionary and that he exited Game 2 “okay physically.” That certainly bodes well for his status in Game 3 when the Celtics return to TD Garden for the first time in the series.

Williams played just 14 minutes in the blowout loss to the Warriors. He scored two points, recorded two rebounds, and blocked two shots. That came on the heels of him getting 24 minutes of run in Game 1's victory.

After a breakout regular season with the Celtics, injuries have limited Williams throughout the playoffs. He has been a mainstay on Boston's injury reports throughout their postseason run, and that has carried on through to the NBA Finals. While fans in Boston were collectively holding their breath when Williams went down in Game 2, Udoka's update on the star defender will help ease the nerves. Hopefully, Williams is able to suit up in Game 3 without any setbacks, and it certainly seems his status is trending in that direction.

Williams has featured in 13 games during these playoffs, averaging 7.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.
