Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier is not a player who’s short on confidence. When asked about the constant trade rumors the Celtics were involved in earlier in the offseason, Rozier boldly stated that Ainge wasn’t going to trade him.

So when Rozier was asked about Kyrie Irving, whom he will now back up this season, the third-year guard once again didn’t waste the opportunity to display his borderline irrational confidence by saying the new Celtic is “definitely going to learn a lot” from him, as Celtics beat writer Scott Souza notes.

It would be fascinating to find out exactly what lessons Rozier figures he could impart to Irving, who is an NBA champion. If anything, it has to be the other way around, with Irving teaching the talented but raw Rozier some things to refine his game offensively.

But that’s apparently the way Rozier’s mind works. And while it remains to be seen whether he can actually teach Irving, he’ll at least give Irving a good workout during their practices because of his speed and athleticism. The Celtics coaches better be ready, though, because things could get heated in those duels.
