After conquering Coachella, Mason Ramsey, who became famous online with his yodeling act inside a Walmart branch, now wants to have a singing showdown with Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving. Welcome to the year of our Lord, 2018.

With his newfound fame, Ramsey was invited to a Cracker Barrel store along with a group of high school players. When Ramsey was asked on Twitter by Cracker Barrel to name one person he would like to have a duet with, the 11-year-old boy responded by dropping Uncle Drew’s name.

The idea that a kid has yodeled his way to social media stardom and to an appearance in Coachella is oddly fascinating enough, but it could get even stranger if he indeed would be able to have a sing-off with Irving, as that would sound as random as little Mason’s choice of location to show off his vocal range.

Yodeling is not as popular today as it was several decades ago, but like Irving’s belief that the Earth is flat, it continues to permeate contemporary pop culture.

It remains to be seen whether Irving would answer the challenge, but he sure has plenty of time to prepare for it, as he is currently sidelined to recover from a knee surgery.
