The Boston Celtics are 15-5 and atop the Eastern Conference standings, but that doesn't mean they're content. Although the NBA trade deadline in early February is still months away, the Celtics will reportedly be busy before then, per NBA insider Shams Charania:

“[The Celtics] still have a few first-round picks. I expect them to be active in the trade market as we get closer to February, to try to see if they can beef up their bench rotation,” he reported.

While Boston might not make any major moves before the deadline, its roster still needs some work. The Green Team's bench averages just 25.7 points per game this season, the second-lowest mark in the entire league. On Monday night, the Celtics' issues were more visible on the national stage when they lost 122-112 to the Indiana Pacers in the In-Season Tournament Quarterfinals.

To be fair to the bench, they were arguably not the Celtics' biggest problem during the 10-point defeat. Boston had a whopping 17 turnovers to Indiana's six and they were outscored 17-7 in the final 1:30 of the game. Plus, the C's scored just 23 points in the third quarter while allowing 37, which outlines the team's second-half concerns. Boston's average of 25.4 points per third quarter is the worst mark in the league thus far, per Team Rankings.

More depth around stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown should help the Celtics, but there's still work to be done when it comes to late-game execution. On a positive note, the Celtics will play their next five games at TD Garden where they're currently 9-0. The loser of Tuesday's In-Season Tournament showdown between the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks will play the Celtics in Beantown on Friday night.
