Rumors have swirled recently regarding Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown and his perceived fit on the roster with fellow wing Jayson Tatum. A recent report from Action Network reveals the Celtics' true plans involving Brown and Tatum.
There’s been a lot of talk in recent days about the Celtics and whether it is “working,” leading to the idea that Jaylen Brown could be moved. Instead, two sources indicated that in recent talks the Celtics are focused on trying to add a third star to play with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
“If you’re trading Brown, you’re still probably trading low on him, that’s the wild part,” one executive said. “That front office doesn’t have a history of trading assets early.”
Very interesting. According to Action Network, Boston is rumored to be looking for a third star to pair behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, despite rumors swirling around Brown's future as a Celtics player.
That plan seems to make sense, as the Celtics were rumored to be involved in seemingly every star player that became available over the years and the franchise had every chance to offer up Brown- and Tatum- in trades, but they didn't.
It wouldn't make sense for Boston to deal Brown and break up his partnership with Tatum at the slightest sign of trouble, especially considering they would be dealing him low.

So, how are the Celtics looking to add this third star to the mix? Boston has two players in their frontcourt who are seemingly on the rise in Robert Williams and Grant Williams. The former Williams has been the steadier player, with the latter being the slightly streakier player.
Both Williams' could be decent trade chips for the Celtics in their effort to get a third star behind Tatum and Brown. However, Grant Williams, who has one year left on his contract, could be a value player to add in a deal, according to one league insider, via Action Network.
Williams' length and shooting ability are better fits for the modern game and could help Boston fetch an impact player to group with Tatum and Brown.
It's unclear what the Celtics will ultimately do regarding talented wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, these rumors shed some light on Boston' thought process as trade rumors begin to heat up.
