The Boston Celtics were rocked by the news that Jaylen Brown is now set to miss the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury. The All-Star swingman is set to undergo surgery to address the injury, but according to reports, he should be ready to go by the start of the 2021-22 season.

This timetable comes via NBA insider Jared Weiss:

To be clear, this is not an official timetable assigned by the team. This is mere speculation based on the history of Brown's specific type of injury.

Right now, there is no definitive schedule as to the start of the 2021-22 season. However, based on recent developments, it looks like the league is aiming to resume the “regular” calendar for the 2021-22 season, which means that similar to past seasons, opening night could be in mid-October. That's roughly five months from today, which falls right in the middle of Brown's projected recovery timetable. If he ends up on the tail end of the 3-to-6-month assessment, then he could be looking at mid to late November as his potential return date.

A bit of a silver lining here is that the injury is in Brown's non-shooting hand. This likely means that this ligament tear should have no long-term impact on the shooting form of the Celtics star in the future.

Boston's biggest concern right now is the present, though. They will need to navigate the rest of the campaign without one of their best players, which needless to say, is going to make their season a whole lot tougher.
