Just a few days in to the new year and fans have already seen some good old Shaqtin' A Fool moments for 2020. The Boston Celtics once again had the luck of the Irish on Tuesday night, being gifted two trips to the foul line courtesy of a hockey assist from a referee.

During their road match against the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena, the Cs appeared to be close to committing a turnover after Jayson Tatum fumbled the pass on the fastbreak. Instead of sailing out of bounds, the ball hit the referee's head and kept the possession in play.

Tatum saw the opportunity to recover the basketball and quickly made his way to the rim before dishing it off to Grant Williams, who was fouled on his lay-up attempt.

Per league rules, officials are considered part of the playing court and possessions remain active as long as the ball is still within the playing field.

Despite their lucky break, the Celtics still went on to lose 94-99 to the Wizards to drop to 25-9. Washington, meanwhile, improved to 12-24 after back-to-back impressive wins against the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics.
