Gordon Hayward saved the day for the Boston Celtics after converting on a baseline jumper to give them the lead, 111-109, with two seconds remaining in the game against the Sacramento Kings.

Hayward took matters into his own hand against Buddy Hield, making his way to the basket and eventually settling for a fadeaway near the baseline.

The former All-Star is coming off a splendid performance in Boston's demolition of the Golden State Warriors, scoring 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting.

Hayward had more pressure to perform against the Kings as Kyrie Irving missed the game due to a knee injury. He went on to tally a modest 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, and one block in Sacramento.

The Celtics have now won back-to-back games, patching up a frustrating period that was marred by questions surrounding their chemistry, Irving's leadership, and even Hayward's capability post-injury.

As everyone knows, Hayward suffered a gruesome injury to start his first season with the Celtics. He's come a long way considering how bad his ankle looked. He's still far from the athlete whom the Beantown team invested over $127 million, but he is making progress.

The Celtics are a cinch to make the playoffs. However, their current form despite winning two straight games remains a question.

For all we know, Hayward could be the key to a Celtic resurgence in time for the playoffs.
