FaZe Clan made the decision to kick Fortnite pro player Cented from its team because of very inappropriate behavior that came to light.

FaZe Clan announced that they are permanently removing Canadian Fortnite pro player Evan “Cented” Barron from its team for some very inappropriate behavior that came to light recently. Through a tweet, FaZe Clan made the following statement:

“FaZe is constantly evolving and we expect our members to do the same. Cented is permanently removed from FaZe due to his use of hate speech. We, and the gaming community at large can’t tolerate discriminatory language any longer.”

The hate speech referred to in the tweet above comes from a December 28, 2021, recording that surfaced earlier this month. The recording captured several seconds of conversation within a Discord server, captured during a live stream by another Fortnite player Jacob “Hellfire” Hansen. In it, Cented entered Hellfire's Discord voice channel and then immediately dropped the n-word, which was met by an awkward reaction by the other people in the voice channel.

In response to FaZe Clan's decision to drop him from its roster, Cented shared through a TwitLonger:

“To those that I’ve offended, I am sorry. I am not racist, but chose to allow a racial word into my vocabulary. I should know better. I can’t say enough how preventable this is. I am sorry for my deep disrespect and disregarding the true nature and history of that word. My willful ignorance is inexcusable.”

Cented also lamented how his ego has gotten him into trouble over the past few months and apologized for his behavior and for letting his fans down.
