While the Kansas City Chiefs look to redesign their offense after a busy offseason, they will also have to address some comments from one of their former players.

LeSean McCoy, who spent a season with the Chiefs as they won the Super Bowl, blasted offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. He claimed on the I Am Athlete podcast that Bieniemy's inability to connect with certain players is the reason why no team has made him a head coach yet. He has been included in several head coaching searches for opposing teams but has remained the OC in KC.

Per Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid claimed that McCoy being a veteran player skewed his view on Bieniemy. Reid said that his OC simply shows tough love and that sometimes it isn't what players want to hear.

“Sometimes it’s hard on a veteran player,” Reid said. “Maybe their performance level isn’t what it used to be, and it’s hard to take sometimes. But [Bieniemy is] going to push you to try to maximize what you’ve got. That’s one of his strengths. . . . He’ll come in and shoot you straight. Sometimes you want to hear it. Sometimes you don’t.”

Reid coached McCoy when he was in his prime with the Philadelphia Eagles. He reiterated that he still a big fan of his former running back and insisted that the Chiefs players do indeed appreciate Bieniemy, who has spent the last four seasons as the team's offensive coordinator.

There are certainly more pressing matters for Kansas City to attend to than McCoy's comments. The Chiefs coaches now have to get to work making sure those players can help Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs return to the Super Bowl. They will especially look to make the best of their new wideouts.
