As if the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs needed any additional help, the surging AFC West franchise will reportedly have the services of rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire against the rival Denver Broncos after all.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Edwards-Helaire will be active for the Chiefs' looming bout against the aforementioned Broncos.

With these two AFC West franchises squaring off on this week's edition of Sunday Night Football, the Chiefs need to keep winning in order to keep pace with the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, who currently own the top seed in the AFC playoff picture. Of course, the one-loss Chiefs are not too far behind the 11-0 Steelers while Kansas City sits in second place in the AFC as it stands today.

Even if the Chiefs were to lose to the Broncos, Kansas City would remain in second place in the AFC playoff picture heading into next week—though the presence of Edwards-Helaire should pretty much solidify a victory as Denver has had quite the hard time lately. With the Chiefs absolutely scorching and fresh off a memorable victory on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Broncos have encountered the complete opposite fate as of late as Denver was infamously forced to start a practice squad wide receiver at quarterback last week against the New Orleans Saints.

Even so, there are seemingly always fireworks when the Chiefs and Broncos clash as there is definitely no love lost in the AFC West as Kansas City continues to reign supreme.
