Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has joined countless other NFL players and coaches in showing support for the family of George Floyd.

As an unarmed black man killed by the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department, Floyd's death has sparked protests across the country and has had many call for a change of the system. Mahomes is one of those people.

The 2018 NFL MVP took to Twitter to post a statement regarding Floyd's death while also acknowledging the unjust deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor as well as a call to action for those in charge.

Here's what Patrick Mahomes had to say:

“First, I send prayers to the family and friends of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmad Aubrey. As I have watched everything that has happened over the last week and even before then, I have tried to put my feelings into words,” Mahomes said in his statement. “As a kid who was born with a black dad and a white mom, I have been blessed to be accepted for who I am my entire life, but that is not the case for everyone. the senseless murders that we have witnessed are wrong and cannot continue in our country. All I can think about is how I grew up in a locker room where people from every race, every background and every community came together and became brothers to accomplish a single goal. I hope that our country can learn from the injustices that we have witnessed to become more lie the locker room where everyone is accepted. We all need to treat each other like brothers and sisters, and become something better. Let's be the world where my little sister, generations to come, and even my future kids will grow up never having to experience these tragedies and instead love each other unconditionally!”

Patrick Mahomes isn't the only NFL player to speak out on the recent injustices. Houston Texans wideout Kenny Stills posted a statement about Floyd's death and even criticized NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's recent statement on the matter.

On the field, Mahomes continued to dominate this past season. The 24-year-old QB appeared in 14 regular-season games where he completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 4,031 yards, 26 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Mahomes would then lead the Chiefs to a 31-20 victory over the San Fransisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
