Kansas City Chiefs fans, there's some good news on the Patrick Mahomes front. According to a source speaking with Carrington Harrison, Mahomes cleared all concussion protocol tests on Sunday and now the team believes he did not suffer a concussion.

Rather, they believe the injury he suffered in the third quarter of the AFC Divisional Round game is a nerve injury in his neck which caused his disorientation.

Mahomes will be having some tests done on him later today to determine the extent of the injury. While a neck injury is no laughing matter, as long as the injury isn't very severe the healing process may not be as long as having to go through the concussion protocol.

The Chiefs and their fans are not out of the woods yet, however, as the big answer will come once the results from the tests on his neck and nerve come back.

Mahomes suffered the injury halfway through the third quarter. On 3rd and 1, Mahomes scrambled and tried to run for the first down. While trying to dive for the first down he was taken down hard from behind, landing awkwardly. Watching back on the replay, the neck seems to whip back on the tackle, which causes the injury.
