When players get drafted in the NBA, they describe it as a dream come true for them and the culmination of what they have been working on since their younger years. However, players are not just the ones fulfilling their dreams when they make it big in the league.

Team's front office executives also work their way up the ladder before they become big bosses. One of them is Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace, who started his career in the league as a scout with the Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat, before becoming a director of player personnel.

Wallace recently shared his journey before becoming a general manager. From working in a casino in Reno, Nevada, to his college days at the University of Kansas and setting up his own basketball magazine at 23 years old, he discussed it all when he was the guest on Sam Amick's podcast, NBA A-to-Z.

Wallace's story is certainly a fascinating one, especially because his rise as an NBA executive can be considered an unorthodox one. Even if that is the case, his success is something that can serve as an inspiration to many to continue to work hard and never give up on their dreams, as he never thought during his younger years that he'd one day end up running a team in the NBA.
