The post-Blake Griffin era has begun, and the L.A. Clippers have already moved on.

Before Tuesday night's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the people in charge of the jerseys for each player already put the jerseys of the players the Clippers received in the trade for Griffin. One of those players was Boban Marjanović.

No one will say Marjanović was the biggest piece of that trade — it's Tobias Harris with a small argument for Avery Bradley — but the Clippers sure treated the big man like he was the main piece. The team put Marjanović in Griffin's old locker, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

It's difficult to figure out how to feel about this one. On one hand, does it really matter where the clothing of new players goes? Would it have been any different if Marjanović's locker was where Brice Johnson's used to be?

The answer is, of course, it matters. When Kobe Bryant retired, the Los Angeles Lakers put Brandon Ingram in his old locker. That sent a message to Ingram, clearly saying that they wanted him to be a very important player for the franchise moving forward.

Is that what the Clippers are saying to Marjanović? “Here you go, Boban. You can have the locker of our best player, even though you're only going to play maybe seven minutes every night until we trade you.”

Seems suspect. What makes the most sense is that the Clippers really don't buy into all that new-locker-old-locker stuff. Or, it could be a veiled admission that the Clippers won't ever have a franchise player like Griffin again, so why not just put Marjanović there.
