LOS ANGELES – The LA Clippers just got Danilo Gallinari back from a strained glute/hip injury that sidelined him for 13 games from mid-November to early December. Unfortunately on the night they got fellow European Milos Teodosic back from a plantar fascia injury that cost him 22 games, Gallinari was surprisingly ruled out with another glute injury. During his pre-game meeting with the media, head coach Doc Rivers surprised pretty much everyone when revealing the Gallinari injury.

“Gallo's not doing well,” revealed Rivers. “He's not going to play. He got injured. It's a different one. It's the other glute. I'm serious. It's a different injury than the other one. I don't know if its the exact same glute. It's been that type of season those far. Things can change, but he's out probably for a good couple games.”

Gallinari returned from his lengthy absence scoring just seven points in his first game and followed that up with 25 in his second game back this past weekend against the Wizards. During that game against the Wizards, Gallinari took a fall and grabbed at his glute area almost immediately. He rubbed and massaged it for the next couple of plays, and even hit a big three-pointer late to keep the Clippers within striking distance.

“I didn't see it,” added Rivers. “I guess he took a pretty hard fall in the 4th quarter. I honestly never saw it and then I got a call after the game about it and then you go and look and it was a pretty good fall.”

Immediately after the game, Gallinari spoke exclusively with ClutchPoints about the fall, but said he was fine despite the fall and that he could play as many minutes as necessary. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the injury worsened after the game and he was ruled out against the Raptors.

The Clippers start a four-game road trip in Orlando against the Magic on Wednesday, but Gallinari has already been ruled out as of Tuesday afternoon with what the team is officially calling a left glute contusion. The previous injury was deemed a strained left glute. He could very well end up missing the entire road trip which concludes in San Antonio on Monday night.
