Patrick Beverley says Clippers ‘thank the Lakers’ for Ivica Zubac
LA Clippers combo guard Patrick Beverley says the team thanks the Los Angeles Lakers for trading Ivica Zubac to them.
Like most in Clipper Land, Beverley didn’t know much about Zubac and how good he was. That changed pretty quickly.
“Hats off to Zu,” Beverley said, via Jovan Buha of The Athletic. “I didn’t know Zu was that good until he came over here. He’s a big piece of what we’re trying to do over here.
“We thank the Lakers. We appreciate it.”
The Lakers traded Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley to the Clippers in exchange for Mike Muscala. The Purple and Gold made the move because they wanted more shooting on the team.
Muscala is a big man who can hit shots from beyond the arc, but he’s been putrid with the Lakers. Zubac, meanwhile, is flourishing with the Clippers as the starting big man.
It’s just been that type of year in Los Angeles. The Lakers entered the season with all the hype after signing LeBron James, while the Clippers have remained under the radar and winning games.
If the season ended today, Zubac would be in the playoffs, while the Lakers would be sitting at home watching on TV.
