Houston Cougars head coach Kelvin Sampson didn't exactly react to his college basketball squad being the favorites in the AAC as one would expect.

After losing multiple players from last season's time, the Cougars still got the nod as the favorites to win the American, which was announced during AAC Media Day.

In turn, Sampson got honest about it all.

“I don’t understand the logic of losing four starters and then being picked at the top of the league,” Kelvin Sampson said. “Where’s that logic? Plus (we lost) two guys that made 230 threes in Armoni Brooks and Corey Davis.”

Many will assume other college basketball coaches simply didn't want to give the Memphis Tigers the nod, as there's whispers of “jealousy” and whatnot circling around Penny Hardaway. To be clear, though, that's 100 percent conjecture.

Nevertheless, preseason voting matters zero percent. The Houston Cougars, and other college basketball teams, still need to play games. It's the entire point.

Until then, we have this… I guess?
